Jesus Christ can be our rock, but we have to let him.

I know that through what Jesus Christ did for us, his suffering for our sins and dying for us, gives us the strength to move forward in difficult times, gives us the comfort when we are sad or alone, and will help us make it back to our Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that he loves us so much. Turn to him and let him lead you, guide you, and help you in your life!
In the Book of Mormon in Helaman 5:12 it gives us this promise.. "And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall."
We have the assurance that if we build our foundation upon Jesus Christ, we will not fall. I know that it is true!

strength.

"You don't know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have."

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

We can always find strength through our Savior Jesus Christ. He knows our pains and sorrows. He knows our struggles. If we turn to Him, we will find the power to move forward.

you are beautiful.

You are beautiful. We are all children of God and we are created in His image. We all have our own talents, abilities, and strengths that can be used to help God's children around us.
My grandma sent me some Christmas presents and one of those presents was a little bag of rocks. All of the rocks were different shapes, sizes, and colors. She wrote a little note with the bag of rocks and in it wrote that she had come across some rocks one day as she was outside. She noticed that as she looked closer at the rocks she could see that they all sparkled. It was harder to notice on some more than others, but every single one of them sparkled beautifully. She made the connection that is the same with all of God's children. We all sparkle, but at times it's hard to remember or recognize. Remember-- we are all special. We are all different, but we are all beautiful.

Romans 8:16"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

trust in the Lord.

Why is the phrase "trust in the Lord" sometimes so hard?
There are moments where life can be so hard. There are times when we don't know how everything is going to work out. There are days where we don't feel like we can go on.
The reason I feel that simple phrase can be so complicated sometimes, though, is because we are human. We can't see the whole eternal scheme of things. God has a plan that is so much greater than we are and as children of God here on this Earth, out of His presence, we are limited in our understanding of just how beautiful and perfect the plan is that God has for each and every one of us.
Alma 5:13 "And behold, he preached the word unto your fathers, and a mighty change was also wrought in their hearts, and they humbled themselves and put their trust in the true and living God. And behold, they were faithful until the end; therefore they were saved."
Gordon B. Hinckley, before he passed away, was a prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I love his wonderful words of wisdom that he gave. In this particular instance he is talking about trusting in the Lord.
“Things work out, it isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out, don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us. If we will put our trust in him, if we will pray to him, if we will live worthy of his blessings, he will hear our prayers.”
― Gordon B. Hinckley
I, too, know that when we put our trust in the Lord, when we have faith that things will work out and if we do our best to live how He wants us to live our lives that EVERYTHING will work out.

the mystery of the missing cell phone

Dun Dun Dun...
About two weeks ago my companion and I's cell phone went missing. One morning we were doing our morning studies where we had our cell phone on our study table. From there we went to a meeting with some of the other missionaries in the area. It was at the meeting my companion went to reach for the cell phone in her backpack and realized it wasn't with her. We just figured we had left it either in the car or at home, no big deal. After all, where else could it be?! We had only been to those places before the meeting. After the meeting we went and looked in the car, then went home to search our study room, but the phone was no where to be found. We prayed for help that we may be able to find our phone and asked other missionaries if they would pray as well. We searched our car, we searched our bedroom, we searched the kitchen, bathroom, we looked in the fridge, and even the garbage. We could not find the cell phone anywhere. Not having a cell phone this day and age is rough! We had all of the phone numbers we needed in there, we were able to call people if we were in the car, and when we were out and about. This was not possible without a cell phone. We wanted so bad to find our cell phone, and always thought maybe, just maybe it would magically appear one day. We went for about two weeks without a cell phone, but eventually received another phone in the mail from the mission office!
Because we experienced that short time without a cell phone, we recognize how wonderful it is to have one! Life is much easier, that's for sure. It was difficult at times without a cell phone for those two weeks, but we have another one and everything is okay.
Situations like this happen all of the time in real life. And this is a very small, minute example compared to a lot greater and more serious trials and difficulties that take place in life. The majority of the time we want things to go how we want them to go and if they don't, we let ourselves get upset or stressed. I think it's important to remember that if we are doing our best, then the Lord will do the rest. It's also important to remember to be grateful and focus on the good in our lives. We have so much to be thankful for.
So what happened?! Did we ever find the missing phone? No, we didn't. Things don't always go the way we wish they would. We do have the promise, though, that when we do our part that everything will work out for our good.
In the New Testament, in the book of Romans 8:28 says "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

hope.

What gives you hope?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope. Jesus Christ provides that infinite power of hope if we let Him.
